Alexandre Aja
Alexandre Jouan-Arcady (born August 7, 1978), known professionally as Alexandre Aja, is a French filmmaker. He created the pseudonym "Aja" by taking the initial letters of his full name. Aja has primarily worked in the horror genre, beginning with his breakthrough sophomore film, the acclaimed 2003 French-language psychological slasher High Tension, after which he made the transition to American films with his 2006 remake of Wes Craven's 1977 film The Hills Have Eyes. He has gone on to direct other notable horror films such as Mirrors (2008), Piranha 3D (2010), Horns (2013), Crawl (2019), and Never Let Go (2024). Aja is the son of French-Algerian director Alexandre Arcady.
